This is a KG3EI Remote Control for for the Pulse educational system from EI Instruction. It is for students to respond to questions during a presentation or learning game.
This gray Pulse KG3EI remote has buttons for entering answers with and alpha-numeric keypad with additional buttons for search, power, enter, back, menu and making selections.
Make sure you have the batteries oriented properly according to the images in the battery bay. There are springs in the back on both sides, but the batteries have to be turned opposite directions. The batteries are AA.
